When I was a full-time wedding officiant, I would tell my couples that whatever was happening was good luck.
Rain on your wedding day? It’s good luck!
Forget your wedding license? That’s good luck!
Wine on your mother’s family photo dress? Good luck, too!
I would say, “Everything that happens on your wedding day is good luck.” Smiles broke through their stress every time. Yes, I was applying humor to a high stakes moment, and there’s also truth to it.
To the degree that luck is an attitude, when things are not going as expected, we can choose to pick our heads up ready for glory versus give up.
